The Monarch Way!

the way we raise our pups

Our puppies are raised in our house with the best start we can set them up for! I've raised many litters over the years, using several programs including Puppy Culture and Avidog, so I raise my litter with a mix of those programs and what I've learned in my experiences at Maplelane!

Puppies are born in my upstairs "puppy room", which is a quiet environment for mom to whelp and for the pups to grow for the first few weeks. We start Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) at day 3. Toys of different types/texture are rotated daily to start exposing them to different things. Noise and sound desensitization starts once ears are open. At 2 weeks, we begin potty training, starting with pee pads at one end of the box. They start on meals at around 3 ½ weeks old while still nursing off mom, with their solid meals increasing as they grow.

Once they turn 4 weeks, the puppies make the “big move” downstairs to the living room in and x-pen area. This exposes them to everyday life, and teaches them a bunch of skills. Potty training continues as they move to litter boxes, and we start them outside soon after.  We expose them to new experiences everyday and rotate through different activities, including: adventure walks outside, food puzzles during meal times, different types of chews, handling sessions, tunnel time, etc. Starting at 5 week, we begin crate training with short sessions, extending frequency and amount of time in their crates as they get older. Around 6 weeks, we do short trips around town to introduce them to car rides.

We do open houses so our puppy families can meet the litters, as well. These happen during 4-5 weeks old and again at 6-7 weeks old. We do require families to attend at least one of them so we get to meet face to face! This is so your family can see how we raise our puppies and we can answer any questions you may have. Its' a great way to get to know each other! After these open houses, a puppy questionnaire is sent out to help us get to know what exactly you are looking for in a puppy!

At 7 ½ weeks, we do temperament testing, structural exams and vet visits for all our puppies. These tests and checkups, our conversations during open houses, and the puppy questionnaire all help us with matching the right puppy with your family!

Finally, at 8 weeks old, puppies are ready to go to their new homes! Before pick up, families are sent the “Monarch Puppy Raising Manual” to read though. Then, on pick-up day, we will sit down one on one, go through the Puppy Booklet, the Manual and any questions you may have to set you and your new family member up for success! Families will always have my support and will forever be a member of the Monarch Golden Family!

How it works

Puppies are registered with the Canadian Kennel Club and sold on a non-breeding contract. They have a two-year health guarantee (from inherited health problems) with conditions.

Puppies are sold for $2600 + HST.

When inquiring, please fill out an application with as much information as possible to introduce yourself and your family. Once the application is approved and we connect, a NON-REFUNDABLE  $250 deposit will be required to be placed on the waiting list. If you decide you are no longer interested when time comes to getting on a litter list, you forfeit the deposit. If the timing doesn't work for a certain litter when the time does come, you can continue to stay on the list until you are ready.

Once you are on a litter list and the puppies are born, 50% is required to confirm your spot. If you decide to back out after that, only 50% will be refunded. Then on pick-up day, the remaining amount will be due.

Puppies go home with their 1st set of puppy vaccinations and are microchipped. You will also go home with a Puppy Booklet, (which includes; copy of parents clearances, puppies pedigree, vet booklet and contracts) and the “Monarch Puppy Raising Manual”. Your puppy will also come with a full size wired crate with a divider (so you can use this crate from puppy to adulthood), a 5lb bag of the food the puppies are on (currently Purina Pro Plan - Puppy under 1yr), a mini first aid kit and a bag of goodies!

We ask family sign up for puppy classes, as well. They are such an important tool and they will get you and your puppy started on training and socialization! I ask that families do research on their own for local facilities, but I will also assist!
